Friday 1st It was a fine day, but we thought that the ground was too wet to dig in the morning , so we cut tea tree in the front. In the afternoon we commenced to dig in the farm orchard round the Orleans Plums, we put about 10 lbs of Bone Dust round each tree.
Saturday 2nd It was a fine day. Henry & I were digging in the farm orchard all day. Mr Crowe examined the School in standards, all the children passed except three. Willie passed into the 2nd Standard.
I went down to Mrs Fordhams in the evening.
Minnie went up to Mauds & staid all night.
Sunday 3rd It was fine in the morning, but rained in the afternoon & evening. I held no service in the afternoon.
Monday 4th It was a fine day. Henry & I were digging in the farm orchard, we finished the side where the Orleans Plums are. Minnie returned from Pakiri in the morning.
Tuesday 5th It rained a little before we got up in the morning and the weather looked unpromising. Henry & I cut tea tree in the morning. It rained all afternoon & evening we were unable to do any work out of doors
Wednesday 6th There were a few slight showers of rain. The ground was too wet to dig, so we cut tea tree in the front all day.
Thursday 7th It was a fine day. Henry & I took Emperess down to the Wharf to haul up some goods, but she played up her tricks so we had to carry it up ourselves. We dug in the orchard in the pm.
Friday 8th It was a fine day. We got the Sheep up in the morning. Henry sheared 10 Whethers. We killed one in the evening and we put the 9 and 3 unshorn hoggets into the barley paddock to fatten.
We cut and tailed 3 Lambs that we did not do last time as follows.

We found that the Heifer “Cassy” had calved a Bull Calf on the farm, so we brought her home with us
Saturday 9th It was a fine day. Henry was digging between the trees in the orchard. I moulded up the Potatoes at the bottom of the orchard. John, Walter & George came over from the Kawau in a flat bottom boat in the afternoon.
Sunday 10th It was a fine day. I read service in the Hall in the afternoon, after the service there was a meeting to elect a committee to make arrangements for a Concert to raise funds to purchase an Organ for all religious services.
Mrs Harper, Miss Harding, Mr Greenwood, Mr A. Haskell & myself were elected the committee.
The Miss Hardings, Walter Wyatt were here for tea.
Monday 11th John, Walter & George returned to the Kawau early this morning. Henry went up the hill to help Mr Greenwood shear, but it came on to rain and they had to leave off and Henry came home. We dug in the orchard in the pm. There was a meeting of the organ committee at Miss Hardings in the evening.
It rained very heavily in the evening.
Tuesday 12th It was a fine day, but we thought the ground was too wet to dig, so Henry & I cut tea tree all day.
Wednesday 13th It was a fine day. We cut tea tree in the morning and dug up ground for Kumeras.
Thursday 14th It rained last night and made the ground too wet to dig. Henry & I cut tea tree all day. Minnie went to Mauds in the pm.
Friday 15th It was a fine day. Henry went up to Mr Greenwoods to help them shear. I was digging in the garden.
Saturday 16th It was fine the first thing in the morning & Henry went up to Mr Greenwoods to help shear, but it came on the rain and they had to leave off and pack wool. It cleared up in the afternoon and I started up the hill to see Mr W. Greenwood who was pitched off his horse and injured, I had just got up to Mr Handbys when it came on the rain again so I did not get any further but staid there for tea.
Sunday 17th It was very showery in the morning, but it was fine in the afternoon and evening. I read service in the Hall in the pm there was only a small congregation. Jim Dunning came up here for tea, the young people went down to Mr Savages service in the evening.
Monday 18th There were a few showers and the weather looks unsettled. Henry & I were cutting tea tree all day.
Tuesday 19th It was a fine day. Henry was up the hill shearing at Mr Greenwoods. I was cutting tea tree in the front. I went down to the Steamer in the evening. There was a dance in the Hall in the evening.
Wednesday 20th It was a fine day. Henry was up the hill shearing at Mr Greenwoods. I was cutting tea tree in the front. Jane went up the hill to see Maud. Ernest & Sam Mills were here in the evening.
Thursday 21st It rained in the morning. Henry & I cut tea tree in the afternoon commencing at the road between the two culverts.
Friday 22nd It was a fine day. We got all the Sheep up in the morning and commenced shearing. Mr Frearson took out of here 5 sheep, 2 shorn ones and 3 unshorn. Mr Neeley took 1 unshorn one.
Saturday 23rd It was a fine day. We continued shearing the sheep and finished them late in the evening. The young people went up to Miss Hardings in the evening.
Sunday 24th It was a fine day. I rode up the hill in the morning. I called in at Mr Greenwoods to see how he was and then went on to Mauds and had dinner there. I returned early in the afternoon in time for tea.
Revd J. Law held service in this Hall in the afternoon.
Monday 25th It was a fine day. Henry went to Mrs Gravatts at Pakiri to help shear. I was digging in the garden. We lent our horses to Miss Harding to go for a ride.
The Miss Hardings, & Miss McGill, Jim Dunning, Ernest Wyatt & Sam Mills spent the evening.
Tuesday 26th It was very fine in the morning. The Steamer Kawau called in in the morning bringing John, Walter, George & Hettie Wyatt & Jim Young for the concert this evening. I was busy all day preparing for this evening.
It came on to rain late in the pm and was showery all evening.
The concert was a great success, but the rain kept a great many away. The Revd R. McKinney was unable to come so I was Chairman. It was kept up till daylight.
Wednesday 27th I was working most of the day clearing up at the Hall . The Kawau called in the evening and John, Walter, George etc returned to the Kawau.
Thursday 28th It was a fine day. Henry & I were digging the top side of the house.
Friday 29th It was a fine day. We commenced planting Hollow Crown Parsnips the top side of the house next to the Strawberries in drills 14 inches apart, we dug manure and bone dust into the ground and sowed a little fertilizer in the drills. Killed a Sheep in the evening.
Saturday 30th It was a fine day. We continued planting Parsnips. Henry & Jane went to Matakana in the evening to an entertainment.
