July 1892

Friday 1st   The boys were working in the E. R.    Willie was not well so did not go to work.   The girls & I were pulling up ti tree on the farm.   I went to the Library in the evening.

Saturday 2nd   It was wet in the morning, we did not go to work.  The boys went to work in the E. R. in the afternoon.   Willie & the girls went fishing but did not catch anything.   I was pulling up ti tree in the pm.

Sunday 3rd   It was a showery day, there was no service.

Monday 4th   Willie & John were working in the E. R.   Henry went shooting.   I was pulling up ti tree.   The girls returned to school after the mid winter holidays.   Miss Wann entered on her duties as Teacher.

Tuesday 5th    The boys were working in the E. R.   I was helping load the scow Bee with A. Matheson’s firewood, but she had to leave off loading on account of the swell and she came round into the harbour for shelter.

Wednesday 6th   The boys were working in the E. R.   I was pulling up ti tree.

Thursday 7th   The boys were working in the E. R.   I was pulling up ti tree.

Friday 8th   The boys were working in the E. R.   I was pulling up ti tree.   It has been fine all week, but it has been blowing very strong from the N. E.    It came on a driving rain this afternoon.

Saturday 9th   It rained nearly all day.   We were unable to do any work out of doors.

Sunday 10th   It rained all day and there was no service in the afternoon.

Monday 11th   It rained in the morning but it cleared up and the boys went to work in the School Reserve.

Tuesday 12th   It was a fine day but cold, the wind from the S. W.
The boys were working in the E. R.  I sent away a letter by this evenings mail to my sister Jane who lives at Syston, Leicester, England.

Wednesday 13th   A fine day.   The boys were working in E. R.
I was pulling up ti tree on the farm.

Thursday 14th   A fine day.  The boys were working in E. R.  I was pulling up ti tree.  Maud & I went to call on Miss Wann, the new Teacher.

Friday 15th   A fine day.   The boys were working in E. R.   I was pulling up ti tree.   Archdeacon Dudley arrived here in the afternoon, having come to Warkworth yesterday in the Rose Casey, riding from there today on a horse borrowed from Mr Pulham.  After he had some dinner I took him to call on Mrs Fordham  and Miss Wann returning here to tea and he staid here all night.

Saturday 16th   Archdeacon Dudley left here this morning for Pakiri. The boys were working in the bush at sleepers & post.   Willie finished working with us this evening, he having been working here 6½ weeks.  I went up to Pratts in the pm on John’s horse staying all night.

Sunday 17th   It was a very dull day, the sun not shining at all and the wind having changed to the N.E.  I went down with the Pratts to service in the new Hall, Archdeacon Dudley conducting the service and he gave us a splendid sermon.  There were 37 present & 16/- odd collected.  I rode with Mr Dudley to Mr Greenwoods to dinner and then we came down to the Hall for service at 3 pm.  He gave us again an excellent sermon, there were over 50 present and 18/2 collected.  Maud and Willie went up to Pratts this morning to spend the day and they did not come home at night.

 Monday 18th   It rained all day, the wind is blowing from the N.E.  We could not work outside.  Henry went shooting.

Tuesday 19th   It rained all day.  We could not work outside.   The boys went shooting.

Wednesday 20th   The Steamer came in this morning.  It rained nearly all day, but it cleared up a bit in the afternoon.  The boys got the steers up and hauled xxx from the wharf.  300 lbs Flour,  Tin Tea,  1 bag sugar & a bag of beef.  It came on to rain again and rained all night.

Thursday 21st   It was fine in the morning.  John & Henry went to work in the E. R.   Minnie took their dinner.  I was pulling up ti tree.  It rained the latter part of the afternoon, but it was fine in the evening.

Friday 22nd   The boys were working in the E. R.  I took them their dinner.  A heavy shower in the afternoon.  I was pulling up ti tree.  I went to the Library in evening.

Saturday 23rd   It was a fine day.  The boys were working in the E. R. all day.  I was pulling up ti tree in the morning.  I went to Mr G. Knaggs in the afternoon.  Maud & Willie returned home in the evening, they have been away a whole week.

Sunday 24th   It was a fine day.  I read service in the Hall in the afternoon.

Monday 25th   It was a fine day.  Willie left early this morning for Pakiri to fall bush for Charles Dyer.  Their board commences again from today.  Henry went shooting.  John & I were working in the
E. R.

Tuesday 26th   It was a fine day with the exception of a shower the latter part of the afternoon.  Henry went shooting to Pakiri.  John & I were working in the E. R.   Henry took down 3/6 to give to Mr McGregor to pay Mr A. Warin for repairing Wedges.

Wednesday 27th  The wind was blowing very cold from the S.  The boys were working in the E. R. and I was making roads to haul the posts out.

Thursday 28th   The wind from the SW but not quite so cold as yesterday.  The boys were working in the E.R.  I was pulling up ti tree.  We have now Two Lambs, I saw them today for the first time.

Friday 29th   The boys were working in the E.R.   I was pulling up ti tree.  I went to the Library in the evening.

Saturday 30th   The boys took Nellie up the hill and brought down May who is in very good condition.  I was pulling up ti tree in the morning and I went to Mr G. Knaggs in the pm.  Willie returned home in the evening.  The boys shot 4 pigeons.

Sunday 31st   A fine day.  I read service in the Hall in the afternoon  Charlie Pratt came for tea.
