February 1867

Monday 4th  We got the two pair of bullocks up and took them in the slay down to the beach and fetched all my things up that I brought up from Auckland.
In the afternoon Samuel commenced ploughing in the paddock and he had just set the ridge out when the beam of the plough broke in two, and so our ploughing was knocked on the head.

NB
After having broken my own plough I borrowed McKenzies plough and Samuel ploughed up all the ground inside the fence by February 23rd, at nights we kept the bullocks inside the fence and we feed them with the thinings of the Maize.
I went to Auckland by the “Enterprise No 2” from Matakana on February 23rd and returned on February 25th in the cutter “Wangarei“.
