Saturday 1st It rained & hailed and blew very hard.
Sunday 2nd Very showery and windy. Revd J Law was to have preached in the Hall in the pm, but on account of the weather there was no service.
Monday 3rd It was a fine day, but blew very strong. Henry was cutting tea tree below the School. I was pulling up ti tree on the farm.
Tuesday 4th There was a heavy frost this morning. It was a beautiful day and calm. Henry & I with the bullocks hauled 5 tons of firewood to the School and some on to the road, after Henry hauled the Hamm & Bacon down to the Wharf, also some Gum for Willie Pratt. Willie & George Pratt have finished splitting posts at the Pa and came home in the afternoon.
Wednesday 5th Wind blew very strong from SE. Showery all day.
Thursday 6th Wind still blowing very strong from the SE.
Showery day.
Friday 7th Wind still blowing very strong from the SE. Very showery in the morning but a little finer in the afternoon. I was pulling tea tree on the farm.
Saturday 8th It was a fine day. I was pruning trees in this orchard. Willies mare Kate foaled a colt foal.
Sunday 9th It was very showery all day. There was neither Sunday school or Service.
Monday 10th It was showery in the morning but it was fine in the pm. Kate’s foal died this morning. My back was bad as I strained it on Saturday. I went to call on Mr Harvey in the pm. Henry was cutting tea tree.
Tuesday 11th It rained last night and early this morning, but it cleared up and was a fine day. Henry was cutting tea tree. Mrs William Brown was here for tea. There was a dance in the Hall.
Wednesday 12th It was a fine day. Henry hauled up 2 Sacks Flour, 1 Sack Maize, 1 ditto Potatoes & 1 Bag Beef that came by the Steamer last night. In the afternoon he got home Nelly & Rosie.
I was pruning trees in the orchard. Willlie Pratt commenced to cut firewood at the Pa.
Thursday 13th It was a very fine day. Maud, Horace & Jane went over to the Pa to spend the day.
Friday 14th It was a showery day. Henry was cutting tea tree. I was pruning trees in the orchard. Maud, Horace, Jane & Willie came home from the pa in the evening.
Saturday 15th Very showery day. Henry got Daisy home in the morning, in the pm he cut tea tree. I was cutting a road down toward the bottom of the barley paddock. There was to have been a meeting of the Farmers Association in the Hall in the evening, I went down but there was no one there.
Sunday 16th It was fine in the morning but it was showery in the afternoon. I went down to the Hall but there was no service. Henry & Willie brought the boat round from Pakiri.
Monday 17th It was a fine day only a few small showers. I was pruning in the orchard. Henry was cutting tea tree.
Tuesday 18th A very showery day. Henry & I were cutting tea tree, but we often had to take shelter.
Wednesday 19th Showery and wind blowing very strong from SW. The Steamer did not come last night or to day. Henry & I were cutting tea tree.
Thursday 20th It was a fine day but very windy, but it calmed down in the evening. Henry was cutting tea tree all day. I was cutting tea tree in the morning and in the afternoon I went down to the E. R. to bring home the Wool that was lying about, & I pulled up tea tree.
Daisy calved a fine bull Calf which we have named Mick.
Friday 21st It was a fine day. We got the Sheep & Lambs from the Barley Paddock and put them out on to the farm. We also put the Sheep and Lambs out of the E.R. on to the farm.
Saturday 22nd It was a very fine day. I was pruning and planted 5 Rhubarb Roots. Willie & Henry went out fishing and caught
3 Wapuka, 3 Baracouta and 54 Schnapper.
Sunday 23rd It was very fine in the morning. We were busy cleaning the fish. Mr Pratt came for dinner & afterwards he, Maud, Willie & Horace went over to the Pa and staid for tea.
I read service in the hall in the afternoon, there was a very good congregation. There were several showers of rain in the afternoon.
Monday 24th It was a very fine day. Henry & I were planting Potatoes. at the bottom of the orchard. Commenced using one of the Sacks of Flour
Tuesday 25th It rained a little in the morning, but it turned out a very fine day. Henry was cutting tea tree all day. Minnie & I were planting Potatoes at the bottom of the orchard. There was a dance in the Hall in the evening. Nelly calved in the Barley Paddock, Henry brought her home. It is a Bull Calf.
Wednesday 26th It was a dull day, but it did not rain, wind was blowing from NE and it threatened very much for rain. Henry, Willie & I went down to the Wharf first thing in the morning and carried up the contents of a box of groceries that came by the Steamer last night. Frearson commenced putting up the fence between the Barley Paddock and their place, Henry helped them clear the line of the tea tree, after that he cut tea tree.
Charlie Pratt was here for dinner. Maud & Horace went up the hill to spend the day at Mr Greenwoods, returning in the evening.
Minnie & I finished planting Potatoes at the bottom of the orchard.
Thursday 27th There were several heavy showers during the day.
I was pruning trees in the farm orchard. Henry cut tea tree.
Friday 28th There were several showers in the morning, it was fine in the pm. I was pruning in the farm orchard . Henry was cutting tea tree.
Saturday 29th There were some showers during the day, but it was very fine and warm between them. I was pruning in the farm orchard. Henry was cutting tea tree.
Willie, Maud & Horace went up to Pratts to spend the day, returning in the evening. Willie went to tail the Lambs. Henry went to the skating at Pakiri in the evening, Harold Torkington returned with him & staid all night.
Sunday 30th It was fine during the day, but it rained heavily in the evening. I read service in the Hall in the afternoon.
