Sunday 1st It was a fine day. I taught Sunday school and read service in the Hall in the afternoon. Henry went to Pakiri in the evening to be ready for shooting tomorrow.
Monday 2nd The School commences again after the mid winter holidays. I was pulling up tea tree in the barley paddock.
Tuesday 3rd It was a fine day. I was pulling up tea tree in the barley paddock. Henry returned from Pakiri in the morning.
Wednesday 4th There were several showers during the day.
Jane went to Auckland in the Steamer in the morning to go to service at Mrs James at Avondale. I was pulling tea tree in the barley paddock.
Thursday 5th It was a fine day. Wind from SW. I was pulling tea tree in the barley paddock.
Friday 6th It was a fine day. Willie has finished cutting the Tea Tree Firewood. He went out fishing with Mr Frearson and caught 26 Fish and 4 Sharks. Henry was cutting tea tree and I was pulling it up.
Saturday 7th A fine day. Henry was shooting. I was pulling up tea tree and doing odd jobs.
Sunday 8th It was a fine day. Willie & Henry went to Pakiri in the morning to be ready for shooting tomorrow. I read service in the afternoon.
Monday 9th It rained last night but it was fine to day. I was pulling up tea tree and cutting tea tree down at the bridge.
Tuesday 10th I was pulling up tea tree. Willie & Henry returned from Pakiri in the evening . The Steamer came in and went out this evening. There was a dance in Hall.
Wednesday 11th It was blowing very strong from SE & showery. George Pratt came over to work with Willie at the Pa, but as the weather was so wet he staid here.
Thursday 12th It was still blowing very strong from SE & showery. Willie & George Pratt went to the Pa to split posts for Willie Brown, they are going to stay over there.
I was pulling up tea tree in the morning and making Cases in the afternoon.
Friday 13th I was pulling tea tree in the morning. In the afternoon Henry and I were hauling firewood out and stacking it on the road.
Received a telegram from Mr James of Avondale saying that Jane was very ill with Diptheria and asking me to come up immediately.
Saturday 14th I went over to the Pa in the afternoon to see when the Ida is going out.
Sunday 15th I went down to the Wharf at 7 am to go in the Ida to Auckland, but she did not sail until 8.45 . We had a head wind and made very little progress.
Monday 16th Arrived in Auckland at noon. I went up to Earles to see Sarah and then went in the buss to Avondale to see Jane. Found her very ill, walked back to Auckland. Went to Mrs Bowens to stay.
Tuesday 17th It was blowing very strong. I went down to the Wharf to see the Rose Casey off.
Wednesday 18th I went out to Avondale again to see Jane. Went to Mr Earles in the evening and staid for tea & spent a very pleasant evening.
Thursday 19th I was very unwell. Went to consult Dr Mackeller.
Friday 20th Still very unwell. Was lying by all day.
Saturday 21st Went out to Avondale in the morning to see Jane and finding her no better I went back to town and got the Ambulance and took it out to Avondale and brought Jane in to the Hospital. Went to see Mrs Harding and Mrs Davies in the evening.
Sunday 22nd It was a beautiful day. I was very unwell all day. I went to spend the day at Mr Fletchers.
Monday 23rd I was very busy all day. Went to the Hospital to enquire after Jane, called at Mrs Hardings, Mrs Davies, to see Sarah. Mrs Fletchers , and then went to Mt Roskill Rd to see Mr Haseldon, had tea there. Revd Percy Williams was there spent a very pleasant evening.
Tuesday 24th It was a very wet morning. I went to the Hospital after breakfast to enquire after Jane, embarked on board the Rose Casey at 11 am for Omaha, we only got as far as Kawau where we remained all night.
Wednesday 25th Left Kawau at 5.30 this morning, arriving at Omaha at 7 am, found them all well at home. In the afternoon Henry and I got all the Sheep into the Sheep pen cleaned all the Sheep and put some fresh Sheep into the E.R.
Thursday 26th I was pulling up tea tree in the barley paddock. Henry was making a new sleigh. It was showery in the afternoon.
Friday 27th It rained nearly all last night and the wind is blowing strong from SE.
Saturday 28th It was a fine day. Henry was shooting. I was pulling up tea tree.
Sunday 29th It was a fine day. I read service in the Hall in the afternoon. Henry went to Warkworth in the morning to take is game to the Steamer, and in the evening he went to Pakiri to be ready for shooting tomorrow.
Monday 30th I was doing odd jobs about the house. Mary Wyatt & Clara Savage were here for tea.
Tuesday 31st I was doing odd jobs round the house. Duncan Knaggs came to register the birth of his child and staid for tea. Fred Pratt was also here for tea.
Willie & George Pratt came home in the evening.
