June 1894

Friday 1st   It was a fine day.  Henry was cutting firewood with Willie down by the bridge in the morning.  I was making roller pins.  In the afternoon Henry & I put the wire on the fence from the big gate to the slip rails.

Saturday 2nd   It was a fine day.  I made rollers & pins in the morning.  Henry & I put on some of the wires on the fence from the big gate down to the farm orchard hedge.  Willie & Maude went out fishing in the afternoon.

Sunday 3rd     It was a fine day.  I read service in the Hall in the afternoon, there was a good congregation.  Sarah & Fred Pratt were there and came up here for tea.  Henry went to Wangaripa to Ernest Fentons to get a dog.

Monday 4th    It was a fine day.  Maud & Willie went fishing in Frearsons boat and caught 30 schnappers & rock cods.  Henry went shooting & I was putting the wire on the fence.

Tuesday 5th  The wind is blowing strong from the E with showers.  The Steamer did not come in.  Fred Pratt was up here and staid all night.  Henry was shooting.

Wednesday 6th   The wind is still blowing strong from the E.  It was a wet day.  I was making rollers in the shed.

Thursday 7th   Wind still blowing strong from the E.  A wet day.  I was making rollers in the shed.

Friday 8th   Wind still blowing strong from the E.  A very wet day.  I was making rollers in the shed.

Saturday 9th   It was very heavy (rain) last night, but the wind has gone down and it was fine to day, but the ground was very wet.
I was pulling up tea tree in the Barley paddock in the morning.  Willie was making a smoke house across the drain.

Sunday 10th   It was fine in the morning.  I read service and taught Sunday School in the pm.  There was a heavy shower in the evening.

Monday 11th   There were several showers of rain during the day.  Henry was out shooting.  I was putting the wire on the fence near Mr Wyatts.

Tuesday 12th   It rained all last night and there were several showers to day.  Henry was out shooting.  I finished putting the wire on the fence near My Wyatts.  Posted a letter to Fanny to go by the next English Mail.

Wednesday 13th   Henry & I went down to the Wharf with the bullocks to haul up 2 Sacks Flour,  2  Do Maize, 1 Do Sharps & 1 Do Potatoes also a bag of Sugar from Harpers.  Henry & Willie went to Pakiri in the afternoon to shoot.  Charlie Pratt was here for dinner, he returned by the Steamer last night from Hokianga.  I finished putting on the wire on the fence.

Thursday 14th   It was a fine day.  Henry & Willie were away at Pakiri shooting.  I was fixing up the fence at the bottom of the orchard.

Friday 15th   It was a fine day.  Henry was cutting tea tree with Willie in the barley paddock.  I was mending the fence round the orchard & digging Kumeras.

Saturday 16th   Willie & Henry got up early to go fishing, but the wind had come in so they did not go.  They cut tea tree in the morning & Henry went shooting in the afternoon.  The wind was blowing strong from the SE and it came on the rain & rained all night.

Sunday 17th   The wind continued blowing strong and it rained all day.  There was no service.

Monday 18th   Wind still blowing from SE.  Rained all day.  No work done out of doors.

Tuesday 19th   Henry was out shooting.  Willie was shingling the smoke house.  I was pulling up tea tree in the barley paddock

Wednesday 20th   Henry & Willie were going fishing, but there was too great a swell, so they cut tea tree.  I finished shingling the smoke house.

Thursday 21st   Henry & Willie went out fishing all day, they caught 29 fish.  I hung the door and finished the smoke house.

Friday 22nd   Cleaned the fish in the morning and hung them in the smoke house, using it for the first time.  Henry & Willie were cutting tea tree down at the bridge.

Saturday 23rd   Henry was shooting all day.  I was mending the fence round the orchard.

Sunday 24th   Several showers.  Sunday school but no service.  Henry went to Pakiri in the afternoon to be ready for shooting tomorrow.

Monday 25th   It was a very fine day.  I finished mending the orchard fence in the morning & went to Dacre’s Claim on a horse in the afternoon to get orders for beef.

Tuesday 26th   It was a very fine day.  There was a very heavy frost this morning.  Willie & I were pulling up tea tree in the barley paddock and the girls were helping in the afternoon.  There was a dance in the Hall.  Mr H. Rayner staid all night.

Wednesday 27th   Very showery day.  Boys went fishing but caught nothing.  Carried up from the Wharf some Goods  from Earles that came by the Steamer last night.

Thursday 28th   I was pulling tea tree in the morning.  In the afternoon we killed Masie.

Friday 29th   It was a shower day.  Cut up the Cow in the morning and took out the meat in the pm.

Saturday 30th   Henry was shooting.  I was pulling up tea tree in the barley paddock in the morning, little Willie helping me.  It was showery in the afternoon & I was cutting firewood for the house.
Harry Dyer  came to register the death of his son and staid for dinner.
