January 1892

Friday 1st   It was a fine day.  We all went over for a picnic at Dacre’s Claim.  We spread our cloth under a shady Puriri tree with John Wyatt’s family and the Brown’s of the Pa.
There was a cricket match between Omaha & Dacre’s Claim which resulted in a victory for Omaha.  There were horse races and foot races for the children.  As there were so many people there we thought there would be a great crush in the Hall so a lot of us came home, we hired the Hall here and had a dance and some supper.

Thursday 7th   John went to dig gum at Big Omaha, Robert Wyatt went with him and they occupy a tent that John made out of sacks.

These are the only 2 entries for January.  The next entry is February 10th
