October 1924

Monday 13th   It was a fine day & I am going back to my home today at Jim Dunnings, and Willie is going in the steamer to take care of me.  In the early morning Willie went to the Three Lamps to make some purchases for me and to order a taxi to take us to the wharf. Grace  went down in the taxi with us.  The “Kawau” left for Leigh at 11 am.  The wind was westerly and strong, but I was not sick.  We arrived at Leigh soon after 4 pm, Jim was on the wharf to meet us and we drove back to Whangateau, I was glad to get home again after an absence of over four months.

Tuesday 14th   Willie left early, he went across to Ti Point, called at Joe & Harolds and then walked on to Leigh and went back to Auckland in the “Kawau“.
In the evening a few friends took the two easy chairs to Mr A. Dunnings and made the presentation.  I could not go, but sent an apology by Jim who went.  Mr Whitaker made the presentation.
In recognition of their kindness in placing their paddock at the disposal of the Show Committee for nearly 20 years.  Willie brought up some Tomato plants  viz  Griggs Best of all  and  Hillside Comet.

Sunday 19th   Revd  Addenbrooke should have held service in the hall today, but he was unable to come as he is attending the meeting of the synod.

Sunday 26th   Showery day.   Revd Rouprecht Presbyterian came from Warkworth to have service in the morning, but on account of the weather no one turned up, so he came up here for dinner.  Eddie Wyatt came to see me in the morning so he had dinner and in the afternoon Jim Wyatt & Elva came to see me.  Jane gave them afternoon tea.  They were married in the Leigh church by the Revd Addenbrooke on the 27th August last.
